I have been seeing the same doctor (actually FNP) for the past 5 years after my cervical laminectomy/cervical fusion for lower back and leg/nerve pain. About a year ago she prescribed the fentynal patch. I started with a 75mcgs and went to 100 mcgs in a months time. Well, along with the fentynal, I was also taking 80 mg oxycontin 2 pills 2 times a day, 15 mg. hydrocodone for break thru pain, effexor, tegretol, nabumetone and something for acid reflux disease. I received a certified letter in the mail on Oct. 27th from her. When I read it, I was stunned! She said that she was withdrawing from my future care and that I had to find another doctor. I made an appointment to see her after I got out of the hospital for pneumonia and hyponatremia (no sodium in the blood) and severe lower back pain.
She sat across from me and told me that I was manifesting "drug seeking behavior" and that I was not to return to that office. I was to find another doctor.
My question is, can she do that to me? Can she just quit me like I'm some junkie? I am an educated professional. I hold a full time job as an educator at the secondary level. I don't know what to do. Help
Please read the rest below. I wrote the rest in a reply by accident. Thanks
