I am a student in Canada, and I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I have decided that I want to pursue a degree in Linguistics, and work in that field for a career. However, I have some old debts that I am desperately trying to clean up.
I am a very smart person. I'm not trying to be vain or arrogant, I am just saying how it is. As such, I know that I have a lot of potential in my life. I thought about doing a one or two year diploma course first, and working for a few years to pay off all my debts, but doing that will only incur more debts, and I can't find any courses that I think I'd enjoy. I also realize that following through with my bachelor degree will mean that I'll have enormous debt when I finish. Further, I'd really like to study full time, so that I can finish quicker and find a better paying job faster.
It's been causing so much stress, like enough to make my life very miserable. I just don't know what to do. I've already finished one semester of a degree, and I have about 7 left. I really want to do it, but I'm horrified at the amount of debt I'll have when it's all said and done, and not certain I'll even find a well-paying job in my chosen field. To further complicate things, I intend to get married before my education is complete, and I need to be able to help support her (though she'll also have an income).
What do you guys think? Someone please help me. I need some real wisdom and advice. Maybe someone out there already completed his/her degree? I'm so stressed out and working a job I really don't like, and I just want to be happy in my life. I appreciate anything you guys can offer. Thank you so much!
