I have a 30 litre tank with a rock, 3 live plants and a little gary ornament. I have a little fishy ( called sugar) that is chubby with a long tail ( but not like veil tails)variety had Sugar for 8 months on friday. But recently she has been ill for the first time. first she just looked a bit out of sorts. then it developed into swim bladder. I treated it and she was fine within a few days, but then she got fin rot. I put in the treatment then I went on holiday. I came back yesterday and I thought she was dead. But then she stared swimming again but turned upside down. She can't stay upright because her fins are so small from fin-rot. One is bigger than the other so she just flips. I have one other goldfish that seems very healthy. It isn't a common goldfish but isn't a really fancy variety either I have had it for about, a month. I got a sucky fish at the same time & that was fine this morning but has suddenly died, I had just put some "disease safe" that is supposed to treat various things, I am worried that that is what killed him.
Sugar also has a black spot on one side now. She can't swim and just stays still upside down, then tries to swim a bit. I have another tank should I use it as a hospital tank? & if so I dunno if I should put both fish in in case the water is dodgy , or just the sick/ healthy one.. :/ & the empty tank has no water or gravel in or anything, should I transfer some stuff out of the tank or might I contaminate it..? & would it be ok to rinse it with tap water first?
sorry it's so long. I'm really worried :S Btw I am going away again tomorrow till friday.
I do have a filter, its a sting ray, carbon/zeolite.
It was an Algea eater. & the problem is tanks are expensive, & I spent the last of my money on treatments :S .. They are very small, for the moment, for end of tail to end of head - 4 cm & 3 cm normally. I think I will try to save up and buy a bigger tank.
Thank-u all for answering xx
