I have an early 1980's suzuki GSX 250 (maybe 83, 84, 85) and the wiring is messed up. Does anyone have a wiring diagram they could scan for me or upload somewhere for me to download?
Or, does anyone know these bikes really well? If so, please email me at [email protected].
PLEASE DON'T JUST POINT ME TO SITES WHERE ONE CAN DOWNLOAD SERVICE MANUALS OR WIRING DIAGRAMS. i have checked all of the ones that are likely to be recommended and it's not there. They have the suzuki gsx250F, but that's different.
If someone knows the bikes well, here's the deal. It belonged to a friend, and it worked. lights worked, everything. Then his starter solenoid went out. He took it off and let the bike sit, tinkered with it, etc.
Now I have it. there's no starter, but I can get the starter motor to turn over with a direct connection. However, I cannot get the lights to turn on. I think that what happened is that he disconnected the main terminal from the battery (the one that goes to the starter) along with whatever the other main terminal is that gives power to the rest of the bike.
I found a disconnected red wire that looks like it might be the hot wire, but it does nothing when I connect it. I found what looks like 2 grounds, a thick black one that just goes right into the frame and another thin black one that goes into the frame, but has a black/red wire branching off backwards from it. Are these the only two grounds or am I missing one? Is this red wire (joins into the harness about... probably just under the front of the seat) the hot wire?
My battery is good and the light switch is on. bulbs seem to be good. Is there maybe more than one 'hot' wire? what could be the problem?
thanks
