I need a nice inexpensive bicycle.?

I got a DUI and I am going to lose my license. I want to get a bike so i at least have something to get around town if I need to. My only problem is I tend to like to spend more money than I need to, so I was wondering what is the cheapest bike that I could use to get around without it breaking and if it does break one that I would be able to get parts without getting them sent from china?
Keep in mind that I would like an all terrain bike since there are allot of dirt roads, gravel, dips and what not out where I am. Thank you
 
Anything you buy from Wal-Mart is not a bicycle, it is a 2 wheeled excuse for a bicycle.

I'm not the one to normally promote Performance Bikes, but they have some decent inexpensive bicycles.

Schwinn World Avenue One Commuter Bike -- not to be confused with a Schwinn 2 wheeled thing at Department stores or Sporting Goods stores.

GT ZuM 5.0 Campus Commuter Combo is another low priced choice.

A third choice is Scattante Roma Commuter Bike.

Those are but 3 inexpensive bicycles that will give you a lot of service, roll easier, fit you better and are of much higher value than anything you can get at Wal-Mart.
 
Get a mongoose bike. I bought mine from walmart. If you need parts they are in usa, so don't worry about parts from china.
Its runs pretty smooth for a cheap bike.

Since you have internet access, I recommend going on craigslist (type the word into your favorite search engine), then going into the bikes, then typing in 'Schwinn.' Then find the Schwinn that most likely fits your needs, most likely an old 3 speed or 5 speed. Don't get a Schwinn made after 1982, when the manufacturing was sent overseas. The name badge should say 'Chicago' underneath the Schwinn. The Chicago made Schwinns are pretty much bombproof, especially the Varsity. Although for commuting, you should probably get a 3-speed or 5-speed Collegiate. Schwinns have indestructable frames and nearly indestructable rims. For $100 or less, you can have a fine riding bike, one that is not exotic, but reliable. Do a lot of comparisons, the are millions of good old Schwinns out there. One thing: Don't buy a low-end department store bike, they are junk and the rims and cranks will not survive your local roads.
 
I think you should get a mountain bike. They're very good with those conditions that you wrote. It depends how much your will to pay. I got mine that's about $75 and it is a beauty! I only need small repairs over the last 2 1/2 years. I think you can still get a good one around $50 if you can find one (knowing th economy).
