Could someone help with my chemistry problem? Thanks.
1.)A creative chemistry student is given 1.00 g of an ionic compound and is told that it is either lead(II) nitrate or lead(IV) nitrate. She dissolves the compound in water and then adds enough solution that contains iodide ion to “precipitate out” all the lead(II) (or IV) ion as solid lead(II) (or IV) iodide. She filters and dries the solid precipitate and recovers 1.38 g of the lead(?) iodide. Which lead nitrate compound was she given?
Thanks!
