In an equitation o/f class: would you prefer to see the rider 3-point while cantering, or ride the canter in a half seat?

In an equitation flat class: would you prefer to see the rider 3-point while cantering, or ride the canter in a half seat?

Thanks!

On the flat, I would say a full seat because you aren't making any sharp turns, also full seat gives you full contact in your ride v.s. two-point or half seat. In an o/f class, I would want to see a half seat because you have medium control, you have some slightly tighter turns than on flat where the only turns are the corners of the arena, andhalf seat is a nice light position with an easy transition to a two-point over a fence. Another option I would give you o/f is riding the course in a half seat, then the last few strides go into a full seat because this allows you to feel what the horse is doing and allows you to do something about it if needed. This is from an eventing trainer's point of view. But, I did ride and train in the hunter circuit for awhile, experiencing what judges wanted in equitation. Many judges and trainers like to see a rider that is able to alternate there positions comfortably, without interfering with their horse.
