I need a cheap bike - recommendations?

I'm a college student and need to get a bike to ride around campus, it seems like most people here have mountain bikes. Unfortunately, my budget's only about $150 bucks, or even less. There are a few bikes at walmart that I could get, but I've been reading terrifying things about walmart bikes on the internet. Do you think a cheap bike from walmart would be OK for riding around campus? Or do you have a recommendation on where to buy a cheap one?
 
Personally if I went back to college then i would opt for a cheap bike from wal mart over any of the 5 that I presently own to get around. I personally would NEVER recommend one for any other use as they are not worth stealing but fortunately not everyone knows that. Some thiefs who steal them think they hit a jackpot....Jokes on them!
