I need a camera for photography? a good one?

so i need a camera that is really good. i want it to zoom in really far, and focus on the objects i want it to focus one. idk if like 14x zoom exists. . .and as for the mega pixel, 9mp is good right? idk. it needs to be under $300, but if it goes over a little . . . thats fine.

so, a good beginners camera. tell me what i should know. which brands are good, how much zoom i should go for, what mega pixel to aim for. . . etc. :)
