i am desperately trying to find a book similar to the wind blows backward by mary downing hahn. i have tried reading two other books after i read it and i can't find a book with the same amount of satisfaction that book gave.
if you don't know the book i am talking about, i am basically looking for a realistic "teen" romance book with deeper, heavier subjects (the wind blows backward deals with suicide)
the book the wind blows backward is about this girl lauren and she reconnects with a boy she hasn't talked to since middle school. the boy, spencer, suddenly starts their relationship back up by trying to talk with her in the library after a couple years of silence. they end up falling in love, but spencer suffers with depression and often contemplates suicide. lauren thinks that her love and support are enough to save him from his depressed state. that is the general idea of the story.
