Whatever your system allows you to. If you have a high enough quality system, start with Sims 3. But if you want a lot of expansions right away, Sims 2. And if your computer doesn't allow Sims 3, Sims 2 and all it's expansions should be good till you get a new computer.
i would say, don't start with sims 3, only because its the newest version.
start with sims 2, or maybe sims life stories, and then if you play for a month or so, get sims 3.
sims 3 seems to be messing up alot of pc.s so, i think its better if u dont play it at first
