I love my Sky Movies.... sometimes I discover films that I genuinely missed on the cinema or Ive just never heard of.....and i have seen some great films ...... I check the new premieres on the anytime feature....and then read the brief description and then watch and enjoy......:)

But I noticed that there is no thread on rabroad for weekly recommendations..

so lets start one......

Ones to watch out for that I have seen recently are:

  • Kite Runner
  • Boy in the stripped Pyjammas

I never thought i would see a thread with this title! Sky Movies seems a taboo subject usually. Most people slate it as being a rip off and showing too many repeats. Its odd because I know loaRAB of people who subscribe to Sky Movies but no one ever talks about watching any films on there. Like the OP I enjoy looking for films on Anytime and watching newer films as well as older movies that return for the first time in HD. I have watched more movies on SKy since getting HD. Watched lots of 90's action films a few months ago like Con Air and The Rock. I like having SKy Movies too. Uncut films with no aRAB and in HD. WHats not to like?

Yeah it is actually pretty god value for money. Especially compared to DVD rentals. It depenRAB how serious you are about films I suppose, and whether you like art house ones as well.

Along time ago the movies were just bunched together but I like how they've split it into Comedy, Action, Family, etc. I know which ones to head for mainly.

The film I want to see this week is In the Electric Mist. It's directed by the celebrated French director Bertrand Tavernier, based on a novel by crime writer James Lee Burke, and stars Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman, Peter Sarsgaard and Kelly Macdonald. It never got a proper theatrical release here.

Not promising it's any good, but at least it should be a bit different from the usual Sky Premiere fare.

If you are happy to pay for 495 films from last week that will also be on next week then Sky Movies might be worth paying for.

But for me its been a waste of money since the late 90's when I used to have it in order to record films that were unavailable commercially.

They've not done that for years

Thing that's ticking me off about Sky's movie channels currently is that their feature on the premiere channel of moving the times around over the week seems to have been dropped - i.e.their midnight film on at midnight all week, not at 6 or 8 pm as an earlier option.a few films I've been looking forward to have been 10 pm or later starts, which is just too late for me.I would complain to them but how,and who to?

Has anyone watched any of this weeks premieres?

I enjoyed flawless and wolverine last week..much better than I expected.

Out this week: Bronson, Ice Age 3, Sisters Keeper, Observe and Report, Deal

Not sure what to watch this weekend?

Oh i loved Sky movies when i had sky..Hallmark was another good un for films, and the horror film channel,,that was me favourite lol

Definately want to see Bronson, will record and watch some time this week.

The others not so much, maybe My Sisters Keeper with the family, heard mixed reviews though.

Ive got sky movies,i do enjoy them but there is a lot of repeats and most of the films i like aint on till later at night and im in my bed by then,im a horror fan but the channel is crap through the day, they put stuff like Thor hammer of the goRAB on,even though u have 2 put ur pin in theres never really anything that graphic through the day,the dark knight and robin hood seem to be on nearly every day, they really need to mix it up more.
