i live in Ireland and would like to earn a little cash as a freelance journalist.?

Nothing majour just the regionals, however i am only 16 and am concerne when it comes to issues like TAX and even if an editor would concider my work because of my age. I have done alot of research on becoming a freelancer however because of my age I'm still doubtful if I stand a chance. Anyone got any advice?
