I keep getting these annoying internet explore pop ups...How can I get rid of them?

I currently use Mozilla Firefox, but all of the sudden, I get these pop ups from internet explore saying "Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run?" No matter if I check to yes or no box, it just will continue to ask me over and over again.

Also...
I have Microsoft Security Essentials on my computer as a anti virus protector, but all of the sudden it just stopped working. When I click on it to run a scan, it quickly disappears almost as if there's a powerful virus on my computer that's somehow disabling it. How can I fix this issue?
