A little background info-
Since I was really little, I have suffered from very sharp stabbing pain in the left hand side of my chest. When it attacks, I find it hard to breath and any movements makes it worse. When I was little I was told it was growing pains. Sometimes it would last for a few minutes, sometimes it would last for an hour or so, there was no set time it would happen, sometimes it would be when I was laying in bed, and sometimes when I was walking around.
As I got older the pains seemed to get less, so I thought the doctors were right. A few Christmas's ago, I went home to visit my family, It was a very stressful time, it was in the middle of my exams and family arguments were'nt helping with my studies! I went to bed early and got woken up in the early hours by a crippling pain in my chest. It was much worse then I remembered when I was little and I couldnt move for a good couple of hours. When it eventually subsided enough for me to get up, the pain lasted for several days. I decided I needed to get it checked out, as with all the stress I was worried it was my heart.
I went to the doctor and she told me it was more likely I had pulled a muscle in my arm that ran all the way to my chest, and the pain was the muscles contracting in pain when i was trying to breath, as my lungs were trying to expand my chest as the muscles were trying to contract as they were injured. Happy it didnt appear to be my heart, I left it at that and suffered the pain for the next few days until it went away.
Recently the pain keeps coming back. and its lasting for days at a time. Its always in the same place, the middle/left of my chest and is always as intense , the only thing changing is the frequency its happening and how long it lasts.
When I was at work a few days ago it struck, and my left arm felt a little off. Not tingly just odd. Its hard to exaplain but i had to hold my arm to my chest/side to make it feel a little better and support it a bit. I felt I couldnt grip properly and the sensation of touch seemd a little different. It wasnt painful just felt odd.
It lasted a few hours before going away. Tonight my OH had an argument with someone is a restaurant after they bought him the wrong food for the 3rd or 4th time in a row! I was a little stressed as the situation was a little heated and when we got home, I had to lie down as the pain was there again.
four hours later and its still here, niggling in the background.
My history-
Im 30 this year, apart from my chest pain and a few migraines also on my left side, I have been healthy, no colds or flu and im not on any medication for anything nor do I take anything.
I want to go back to the doctor but dont want to look a fool if they turn round and tell me its a pulled muscle again
but this has happened now for almost...20-30 years.
