...genetically modify's piranha? i thought this movie was really stupid, only a damn idiot would genetically modify a fish purely known for feeding on meat
 
Relax. There's a principle in entertainment call "verisimilitude," the temporary suspension of reality for the purposes of fun.

We get to pretend that some person got it into their head to genetically modify a piranha, whereas in real life nobody would do this.

It's only a movie.
