Burns are the fourth leading cause of injury in the US each year. They are painful accidents that can happen to anyone. Burns are tissue injuries that are a result of coming in contact with numerous agents. Chemicals, electricity, and fire can all cause burns. They all affect the body in different ways that could result in death.

When your skin comes in contact with acid, a chemical burn occurs which can cause breathing problems, unconsciousness, and local pain, which may lead to death. An electrical burn happens when the skin is exposed to electricity, which can lead to fatigue. You could also develop heart or respiratory failure, which may lead to death. Fire burns happen from residential /house fires. They cause blisters, pain, and if complications arise you can go into shock and death may be a result.

The most common types of burns are from fire, chemicals and electricity. Though, they are all painful in their own way, they can all have the same result. Your skin is an important part of the body. It acts as a protective barrier against bacteria and viruses, and plays a role in regulating the temperature of the body. Since your skin is so important you should take care of it, and if you get burned treat it immediately.
