Yes, I just went through this. For your car registration you will need to have your car smogged. You might as well do that before you go to your local DMV. Your best bet for the DMV is to make an appointment online. Don't try to just walk in in Oceanside. The lines are very long. Your three closest offices are Oceanside, Escondido, and San Clemente. You will also need to take your title with you. For you driver's license take your birth certificate, your state driver's license, and prepare for the test.
If your car was purchased less than a year ago you will also need to have your receipt and proof of the amount of sales tax you paid.
