I just installed sims 2 and now everything in pleasantview is flashing pink

and purple. why? Its the first time i've tried to play it. I 'm not sure if this happens in all towns, it was the first one i tried and it happened.
How can i fix this and why did it happen??
I have an LG and i think the model is 566LM. Thats what my monitor says.
How can i make it so that my computer/hard drive can handle it?
