1) Do track days and you don't have cops on your ass.
2) Use your head when riding on the road. Look around and know your roads.
3) A radar detector will help immensely.
4) Have a great lawyer if you get popped.
I ride fast most of the time ( 80-90 on highway/tollways). I don't ride as fast on roads I don't know. I don't go more than 10-15 over on major roads (35-45 MPH zones). I don't go more than 10 over on residential streets (25-30 MPH). I generally don't ride many Residential streets. I try to stay on Highway and "Open" roads. Yeah, I'll open it up to 100 + almost everytime I am out, but usually on familiar highways in short bursts. I may throw a 135 + in from time to time on an open road in the country, but I pick my spots. I know how fast the bikes are, I have nothing to prove. It's more fun tearing up a sweeper or a ramp at 80+ , than going straight.
Cops like being cops. They like giving tickets to speeders. It's a matter of Revenue for all the states and municipalities. Also, as the economy "tanks", there will be MORE tickets issued, as Revenue enhancemant. Fact of life in the U S A. This summer will be worst than last, as far as speed traps and ticket giving go's (Most states economies are hurting real bad as a result of the recession).
Leads me back to my first point; Want to enjoy your DUC, do as many track days as you can.....
