i just got as a gift from my boyfriend a gold fish?

but i m a bit worryd that the tank where he is is to small because some times he is going up out of the wather like he wants to breath outside.is that normal?he is very small so the ppl from where he buy it they say he dosnt need a pomp of air to breath,so he has a plant in the tank.is this ok?
i m affraid because i love him already and i hope he is happy in there

how big is you tank? how much water does it hold?
gold fish can live without a filter but they do need air

i used to keep goldfish without filter etc but eventally added a filter cause gold fish are really dirty with out a filter need to clean out 3-4 time a week but with a filter once a week is ok
