I just got a apple mac ibook g4 with no internet security ?

will i need to install some security package or would it be ok on its own.Does apple automatically protect it?Also when i did the regestration thing i set the internet selection to "my computer can,t connect to the internet" how do i change this all your help would be really appreciated cause i a bit thick lol
