I just finished "The Killing Dance" why wont Richard talk to Anita anymore?

so I just got done reading the killing dance... it was a great book but the last chapter killed... I mean yeah she slept with JC but when she took the 3rd mark she shared her love for Richard to him... I dont get it..I really like Richard i would have liked them to get together.. I know they dont but there has to be more resons for him not to talk to her anymore... I mean they are connected now the 3 oh them... will someone please help me by telling me something without spoiling the rest of the books... thank you
