I just brought a RCA to stereo cable and plugged into my PC to my Sony XBR9 yet it

has no sound coming out? I brought a 3.5 mm and plugged it into my green slot from my motherboard where my speakers uses to be and plugged the other red and white ends to the back of my Sony XBR9 but I can't get any sound from it. Any ideas?
I am using DVI to HDMI if that matters.
