I just bought a used car, 2003 toyota matrix xr from a used car dealer. Checked out fine, no problems. 2 days after I purchased it the check engine light came on. I called the dealer and his first response was "oh that may be the o2 sensor" so then I took it to autozone and was told the only code was for the O2 sensor. But doesn't that mean it's actually the Catalytic Converter? The employee at autozone then informed me dealers manually shut the check engine light off when people are testing vehicles. I'm thinking this is some sort of fraud? Deception? Should I fight for the dealer to fix it or do I have to accept it?
Also, the dealer I need to speak to isn't in till monday but another person working there told me to bring it in and they would shut the light off. lol. Is this a joke?
