where the lower unit joins top end simly unbolt...make sure you disconnect gear linkage insde hood,,you may be better soaking for weeks with penetrating fluid ,,the bolts are stainless running thru aluminium and they rust together terribly some times impossible to undo...if no joy use exces force and replace with new .,nuts and bolts..the fitting of new waterpump is easy to see..onrebuild make sure water pick up pipe is connected. come out top of waterpump housing and connects to send water round motor,,,look up in power head.. if prop is sound i woudnt strip out drive shaft you will just destro housing unless its absolutely mint condition ..hope helps
 
...unit apart to check for wear.? the seller told me it needs a new water pump. I drained the grease from the lower unit and it appears to have some moisture in it. How do I take the lower unit apart?
