I installed Vista. I like it.

Once you disable UAC, Vista is actually quite nice. I like the sidebar more than OSX's dashboard...I also think Vista looks more "professional" than OSX.

I'm not a big fan of Aero turning off whenever some program wont work with it

Go read this. See how much you like it after.

Not flaming, just pointing out the problems. I'm very interested in Vista, but if it's going to make my system as unstable as that article says, and that hard to use, forget it.

Honest question, if you haven't used XP pro, you're comment is worthless. How does vista ultimate/home premium stack up compared to XP Pro?

I still have ATI, I'd have to end up buying a whole new chipset if I went over to nVidia. I also think that ATI is easier to use. My main concern is the 1gb needed to run.

1gb isn't an issue for anyone who keeps somewhat up to date in tech, which i assume would be the case for anyone who is going to install vista instead of getting a prebuilt dell with it.

the standard for gamers has been 2gb for about a year now, and most mainstream computers come with 1gb RAM now except for the very cheapest models with semprons.

My XP Pro theme is identical in every way to Vista.

I even have the exact same gadget/widget sidebar.

vista has nothing to offer me until DX10 is released.

Everything on Vista takes slightly more memory usage than what XP can run at the moment.

I have Vista Ultimate... I would have been fine with Home Premium to be honest

My system is perfectly stable

I've been using XP Pro since it was first released. Vista is like XP Pro, but looks nicer, has a better search system, and has a sidebar. Of course those are the most noticable things, but there are little things that are nice too.

My sound didn't work for call of duty II, the text-to-speech deleted my files, and my mouse just did not work -- plus my video card keeps having driver errors ... damn
