I hit a parked car, no damage to his car but damage to mine, should i call my insurance?

Ok so i was pulling out of a spot right in front of my house, didnt see the car in front of me due to the sun's glare and hit his truck. No damage to his car whatsoever but since i drive a low car my hood went underneath his bumper and completely destroyed my hood and the front of my car. The question is I dont know if I should pay out of pocket or call my insurance and if I call my insurance will this count as an accident against me or will my rates go up? No police report was filed, the police werent even called. Like I said there was nothing on his car...please help!
 
report it because it will cost more out of your pocket to fix it then it would for the insurance company to fix it. On top of that, if you choose to do nothing and don't report it, should something else be damaged under the hood that you haven't seen yet or in the future..if you've reported it, the insurance company will pay for that as well on the same filing. Same goes for if the other guy suddenly comes back at you with something he says went wrong due to the accident. You pay for the premiums every 6 months...why not let them do their job and get your money's worth? Good Luck
 
This is very easy... Go and get an estimate at a couple of different places and see how much it cost to get it fixed. If it is less then your deductible then your answer is simple...NO. And If it does cost more then your deductible, then you have to make a choice of what to do. Yes it will count as an accident especially if the damage cost more then $500. Your rates will go up later. If the cost of the repair is only a little more then your deductible, don't report it, just for it. If it cost a couple of thousand of dollars then go ahead and report it. Hope that helps!
 
If you call your insurance it will go up. But you might be able to fix it yourself with junk parts but if its alot of damage than have insurance company pay you will have to pay your deductible
