i was completey fine when i got to the top but as i started to head back down my nose started to get runny and it wouldn't stop until i finnaly got to the bottom where it went back to normal.

What causes this and what can i do to prevent this cause walking down a mountain with a runny nose isn't very pleasant at all

im not exactly sure. but it could be either from the cold. or maybe the change of air pressure.. because you may have been breathing heaving, the more air you would have breathed made it runnier.
it could be the cold because everytime i go bike riding in the cold, i get a runny nose too. maybe wear something to cover your nose and cheeks of oyur face. too keep it warm. may help
