I hear clicking when I drive 96 Ford Windstar, drives great, slight hesitation at times?

It feels like when I hit the gas -- every now and then -- it may hesitate for 1/2 second and goes. Minivan is an automatic and no problems shifting gears - cars runs and drives great -- just noise gets on my nerves. What could it be?
