I have weird periods, even more weird now.. is there anything wrong? :s?

Throughout the last year I've been having one period every three months and very bad mood swings just before I have it, but now I've been constantly getting blood in my discharge for about 2 or 3 months and now I have brown discharge - should I go to the doctor or is there nothing to worry about?

I'm only 17 and not pregnant - I was on the pill about 1 and a half years ago but came off it - could it be something to do with that?
