...electricity for the environment? I know this sounds cruel but it has been eating away at me how much resources are dedicated to keep these two quarter size fish alive. Pump running around the clock and heater too...I am thinking what a waste of resources but then there's my conscience saying no....you committed to them. Am I being foolish?

Yes. You SHOULD NOT flush them. When fish are flushed, the acid and lack of chlorine slowly eats away at the and they feel a horrible burning. and then there lungs finally burn away and they drown in their own blood.

That is SUCH a small amount of electricity, and electricity is not the primary environmental threat anyway, so that would only hurt the environment by killing two innocent fish, not help it.

I have a 20 gallon tank with two fish in it right now at home. I plan on enjoying it for a long time.

You have to take responsibility of the fish because you made a commitment to them when you bought them, killing them is the opposite of that....

Don't kill the poor things. Contact a local pet store to see if they will take them. There is one in my area that will even give you a store credit for what they are worth! Even if it is just a fish, they depend on you for life!

what kind of fish are they and dont you think your hurting the environment by killing innocent little fishes??
