i have two chevy caveleirs with 2.2 engines a 96 & 97 on the 97 the engine

fan only comes on with the ac? it doesn't overheat but the gauge reads 195 almost instantly.the 96 fan comes on what i think is normal. what temp should the fan come on at.and what besides the temp gauge tells the fan to come on. the relay and fuse are good and i have power to both
