Football i need some guidance? I have been a semi professional footballer for the past 8/9 years, I am 23, Winger, Forward. Forté Sprinting
2009 Summer Pre season, I was training 4/5 Times a week, with 2 Clubs, and going to the gym to do running on the treadmill, cross trainer and ab work, in hope of gaining an advantage over other players, and push past my fitness / endurance threshold.
Long story short, i have very very poor / non existant Natural fitness, as opposed to most people i have trained with. I would perform very well in training, but in Games I feel rotten and I can never seem to keep up, even with 4 months worth of pre season training nearly every day.
in pre season 2010 which is now, I been away from the football soccer scene for over 7 months, I did a few sessions in the park to try and do what i can do before trialing with a new club and raise my fitness.
I went to a trial with my friend, we had to perform...a 1 KM Run around the perimeter, the coach said 3/4 mins is the goal time we are expecting the players to achieve. after this it was some ball work, like passing, apparently this was "recovery" for the next 1 KM run we had to do, then we did this 2 more times, so its literally 1 X 4 KM runs at 4 mins per km
.i pulled out after managing half a kilometer, it was embarassing. whilst my friend completed everything...he admitted he felt he was going to fall over and pass out...but from where i was standing he looked good...he was slower than the players but not too slow but still managed to complete it.........even though i pulled out within an hour......i can image if i put the fitness i had gained from last season into this training session we just did....i could still hold my hands up and admit it would still be too much for my body to handle.
I need help and advice on how to Break through the natural fitness barrier, and reach a point where i can run at an athlete pace for hours without failing. and feeling comfortable at the same time.and perform on the pitch without looking tired
