I bought a brand new chevy aveo in 2005. I was 18 and it cost 13,000. The interest was high for obvious reasons... i was 18.
I just paid off a whole bunch from my savings to save over more interest.
The car now has 76k mi. and the timing belt went and totalled the engine.
I thought that was going to be my car for a while but i guess it didnt work out as i planned.
As most of my savings are gone and i have a car that cant run without an engine replacement or repair, i have some options.
Spend money on an engine(and risk the timing issue destroying the newer engine)..
SPend the money i have on another car instead of a new (used) engine and avoid the potential of it happening again from that model of car
And that its. I dont have enough money for any payments, right now i lose money from my savings on a monthly basis because of my situation so using whats left of my savings towards a downpayment would end up in bad credit and repossion with no money at all and no car again.
What would you do? Engine repair/ replacement(replacement is cheaper) or use that on a used car with similar miles on it?
My big issue is the timing belt didnt break, it was the pulley, so how do i know the new wont break on it and damage the engine at 20,000 miles after i bought it.
WHat would you do and why?
