Can i fix it externally ? I have older Maruti Suzuki 1300 CC of 1993, and it doesnt have the rpm meter ? Can i fix it externally ?

Does shifting up & shifting down the gears depend on rpm ?
Maruti Suzuki 1300 CC have 5 gears and a reverse gear, at what rpms should i shift up & shift down my gears ?
