do to be ready? Like do I need any permits and stuff, or can me and my buddies just go on the trail and camp on it? It is in the Rio Grande National Forest. Is the trail easy to follow? We have never been, We live in Missouri, so can anybody feel me in?

Hi im an outdoors-man lol, to be prepared (ready) you need to bring the right gear. make a list (below is list of Essentials), get physically prepared. and mentally prepared. study the terrain (where lakes-rivers-streams ect) incase of an emergency. and have fun... base what you take on (length of trip-weather-season-how many are going-what terrain- ect)

List:
1. Spare clothes (extra socks-shirts)
2. Food (snacks)
3. Water (dont need to explain)
4. decent knife (best tool)
5. WATERPROOF matches (if you get lost/stranded, you can make fire)
6. first aid supplies (mole skin-butterfly bandaids-plasters-gauze-medicine)
7. GPS or compass
8. topographical (reccomended) map of area
9. poncho
10. rope always come in handy (paracord is reccomended)
11. flashlight
12. emergency supplies
13. (most importantly) YOUR BRAIN

Get boots that you wont turn an ankle in and have to be carried out, and make sure your feet wont blister in them by breaking them in.

When will you be going?

Permits, I dunno. You can probably find a visitor center for info about where to camp. But once you get out there, nobody is going to stop you from doing anything, so dont worry about it.
