I have lost all faith in mankind.

The song your talkin about is Bob Rivers - I am Santa Claus. Its a rather good cover of the song unless your so stuck up about music that you cant let room for parodies into the musical scope. In which case i strongly suggest a total avoidence of Wierd Al, Dr Demento, Bob Rivers and any punk covers of Xmas songs.

Seriously, i dig the fact they can do a christmas song to the tune of iron man, gives me something better to listen to than that andy williams love christmasy type shit.

I believe the consolidation of Christmas with the other holidays had two goals. One was a to make it easier for the "pagans" to accept Catholicism. The other was to avoid excessive partying and lost productivity. It got to a point where no one was working because it was a holiday every week and we know how the Romans partied. It wasn't that long ago that we started to observe most holidays on Mondays to avoid disruptions in the middle of the work week.

Getting back to the Iron Man parody, I just heard it last night (not for the first time) and it made me smile.

never heard the iron man cover, but if it sucks any less than normal " jingle bells" crap that i have heard on the radio for like 3 weeks straight now. It is a welcome change. And Ozzy singing Christmas songs would be sweet, all i can picture is Santa biting off a elf's head!

You lasted this long with faith in humanity just to throw it all away for a Bob Rivers parody?

I'd suggest calling your mom and letting her know whats transpired here. I'm sure she'll invite you over (perhaps up) for dinner and make everything OK.

Happy non-denominational solstice celebration.
