I have important betta fish questions!?

Ok, I'm going to buy a betta fish tomorrow but need to know some information. I am a previous betta owner but I never new the answers that I'm about to ask. First of all, how can you tell the age of a common male betta? I want a somewhat young one so we can have a happy long life together =D. Now my next question has to do with brine shrimp. I would love to occasionally give my betta some live brine shrimp to chase after. But brine shrimp are saltwater creatures. They only live for about 6 hours in fresh water. Their eggs wont even hatch in fresh water! So how am I suppose to feed my betta live brine shrimp every now and then?

First of all most stores get their Bettas in when they're between 7 months and a year old, this is when they're colours and fins are at their best.

As for the brine shrimp, either stores will sell bags of live shrimp in salt water or you can buy brine shrimp hatcheries from any good aquatics store or online. Brine shrimp are sea monkeys.
