I have a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design. I currently make $45K per year in U.S.A Portland Oregon. I want to make more, designers use computers most of the time, my eye sight is getting very blurry because I use a computer 7-8 hours a day, even with lots of breaks at work. I want to change careers so I can avoid sitting in a chair most of the day and want to make twice my current salary within a year or two. My back also hurts with extensive sitting due to past car accidents, but I am 26 and pretty healthy and somewhat athletic so I am not handycapped. What is a good career that only requires under a year of training / certification? I also want a career that is not susceptible to outsourcing (example: car mechanic, family doctor). Design and engineering jobs are getting payed less in the states because the salaries need to compete with outsorced positions overseas. That is another reason I want to dump design and look for something else. I am social and I like cars.
