I have discomfort swallowing, anyone else?

I have had acid reflux for a few years and I can mostly sort it by sensible eating and medication.

However, for the past week I have had some discomfort in the mid chest area when swallowing and burping. Is this just a flare up?

Could be. Your throat could be swollen and irritated from contact with the stomach acid. You could also be experiencing esophageal spasms, which I have never experienced, but others here have posted can be very unpleasant, and feel as you describe in your post.
