i have ati 5500 radeon hd series and a philips bdl3215e monitor?

i have hdmi on my pc hdmi on monitor but get no signal on monitor when trying to use hdmi source on the monitor i run on windows 7 64 bit 6gig of ram and have an i7 chip but cant get hdmi signal tried changing resolution but dnt know what else to try maybe settings in bios but all this is new any one know please
