i have an 05 chrysler gps that gives a check disk signal what's wrong?

on a recent long trip, the gps dvd disk kept giving an error on the disk - check the disk message. we had the disk cleaned and sprayed compressed air into the disk area, per chrysler suggestion, but no solution. you could see map being used was working behind the error message. what is wrong and how can it be fixed.
