I have ADHD. How can I harness the mental energy to write novels, poetry, or songs?

I have found that practice is the best way to harness your energy without medication. You can also try a routine that allows your body to know you are about to study. Setting alarms at specific intervals (such as 10 or 15 minutes) can keep you on track but it can disrupt the flow that is often needed for music and other such subjects. Make sure you do not keep the alarm on the same intervals for too long, your body will learn to ignore your alarm. Good luck!

I am 19, going on 20. I am enrolled at one of the top musical universities in the southeast. I am a music industry major, and have two minors, mathematics and Latin. I have a great interest in everything from the paranormal to science to the classics such as Greek and Roman mythology. I am a huge philosophy buff as well. Many time during the day, when I am not studying something, or even when I am studying, I will drift off into something of another world, quite literally. This always happens when listening to music, especially classical or metal music. I will drift off, allowing whole scenes to play in my head, like a movie. These scenes usually involve philosophical subjects tied with whatever it is I studying at the moment, such as math, biology, physics, paranormal, etc. Here's where the problem arise: I want to write novels, poetry, or songs with these scenes, but it's hard for me to keep them on track without being distracted by the energy required to keep them on track, or if not that, i jump from one scene to the next, leaving partial stories and blanks in them. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information to answer, then tell me and I can provide as much as needed. Thank You.
