I have a vcr, an old Broksonic and I'd like to record from it...?

Okay, I know VHS is out, and yes I do watch DVDs, but I love my Broksonic vcr. Anyhow, I can't see the channels on VCR display screen for when I want to record a show. I need the VCR to be on the right channel, while tv is on regular channel, but I can't tell what channel the VCR is on.

I have no remote to this either.
