I have a used car question?

I am looking at a used yukon xl. While looking at the interior, I noticed the rails the seats are mounted to were rusty looking. I touched one and it left a rust smear on my finger. I ran a car fax and it came back clean. What would cause this. It was worse on the front seats than anywhere else, but all had some rust. Water damage??
