I bought an '02 Lincoln LS about two months ago. It's a used car, so it does have its share of add-ons, like 20" rims and a plug (not a port) for an MP3/CD player.

The trunk is not so much an add-on as it is a modification. The release latch is gone, because an LED was installed to illuminate the license late, and there is no keyhole so as such it is a keyless entry trunk. This means that if I wanted to open the trunk from inside the cab, I would have to press a button, right?

But there's a problem, the battery is dead. My stupid ass left the lights on, and now there is not enough power to even pop the trunk. I can't get to it from the outside or even the inside without removing the seats. The center console in the back is boarded up, so even if I wanted to reach back there with a wire hanger to pull the release latch, I couldn't.

So, in essence, I'm stuck with a dead car that I can't repair.

Can anyone please help me? What can be done? With the battery in the trunk, are there points under the hood that I can hook up to?

Any advice would be helpful.

There should be a few ways that you can hook a pair of jumper cables up to give you enough power to open the trunk. Raise the hood and make sure that there 's not a battery under the hood. if there is just hook the jumper cables up to it, but if there 's not a battery find your starter and hook your hot jumper cable to the big wire going to the starter then hook the ground cable to the motor or the frame and that should give you the power that you need to open the trunk. If you don't like that ideal then find the fuse box that's under the hoodand you should have two big wire running into it and you can hook one of them to your hot jumper cable and the other one to a ground.

hmmm well pop the hood find the positive link that should be a big red terminal box around the wheel well and then gound out the negative and that should give you enough juice to pop the truck

Well, to begin, if you do not know anything about cars--- NEVER buy a used car!

In this case, probably a simple jump start from another battery should give U power for a minute or more to push the button and open the trunk.

Then you should consider repairing all of the items that the previous owner screwed up!
