I have a Samsung SL35 camera when I plug it in to my PC nothing happens.What do I do?

I had a camera that when I used the USB cable to put pics on my computer it worked automatically then....I lost it. Now we got this Samsung model SL35 digital camera for christmas and when I plug it in nothing happens.Is something supposed to happen? Was there a CD that came with it or something?I don't know what to do and I really need to put my pictures on my computer. HELP ME PLEASE!! ;A; D': TT~TT
