I have a question to ask about the military?

Okay, can I join the army as a medical professional, and not get sent to war or bootcamp? Will they pay for my medical school in advance? How does it work. I really want to join the army, but I don't want to fight in the war myself or do the whole boot camp thing. Can you explain it to me?
to the second answerer: I am not the kind of person to fight, i'd rather tend to the soldiers that are, though.

1: You join the military, you go to Boot Camp. Period. No matter what.

2: The military will help you with a degree, but they're not going to pay all of the costs for you to go through med school.

3: Don't even think about trying to get them to pay for your school in advance, getting your education, then dropping the military like a hotcake as soon as you've got what you want. Try it and they'll get every penny back out of your hide. And it's illegal.

The military is ABOUT war and boot camp. Go find someone else to pay for your college.
 
My husband was a combat medic actually :)

You go through bootcamp it's actually called Basic. Then you will go to AIT where you will learn all the things you need to for your trade.

Typically, you'll do short tours across seas or wherever you may be needed. You wont stay for years on in typically. Now that is for a combat medic. && to be frank dear...if you're going into the army && you dont want anything to do with war...dont bother...theres no respect in it && you PROBABLY wont pass basic. Just go to your local recruting office && they can tell you more.

It's not so bad really...
 
when you get in the Army you do have to go to basic training and more that most likely you will be sent overseas..regardless of what job you pick.Hope this helps.Good Luck!
 
If you join the army, you will go to basic training (boot camp is marines/navy) but yes, all army people go to basic training. You will also most likely get deployed. it really doesnt sound like something you should be getting into with what you want for your life. The people in the medical fields (other than corpsman) arent as likely to have to go into combat, but in the wars now, everyone faces danger.
 
Every applicant to the Armed Forces must attend the initial Military Training, as for paying for your medical school costs, they should pay for most of your fees.

Do us a favor and stay civilian than.

You can look into ROTC. Keep in mind you have no say if and when you get deployed.

If you come in has an officer you don't attend basic but have an officers course you need to attend.
 
There are programs that will put you through medical school first and you do not do a boot camp in the sense of regular boot camp. Have you finished your bachelor's degree yet?

Note: Not everyone goes through basic training. Medical officers are treated differently in that they go to schools during their summers at Fort Sam Huston. It is very different than regular basic because they want to make sure that potential docs do not get hurt. If they sent docs through regular basic and they got hurt, thousands of dollars would be wasted. They also focus on military medicine. Doctors can also get direct commissions and then they attend medical officer basic.

every person has to go to basic for 9 weeks (add a week for processing) it's not that bad though! i'm leaving soon 4 it! you have to go wherever your needed and where the army sends you whether you like it or not! you become government property. you have to complete basic before you get any benefits. after basic you go to your ait (advanced individual training) and depending on your mos (job) u'll b there for a couple more weeks! like 4 my mos i'm there 4 22 weeks and my bf is there for only 8!
