I have a question about the Motorola Backflip for people who has one?

I was thinking about getting one and I went to the store a played with one for awhile. It said that it has predictive wording but I could not get it to work. The people with a backflip, are you able to use T9. Meaning if you spell a word wrong does it correct you. If so how do you get it to work?
